Happy Monday everyone, sorry I am running a bit behind this morning. The good news is I have a ton to share with you from day 7 of our anniversary trip.
When we woke up the sun was just rising (it was early because I scheduled a breakfast at Epcot at 8:15, I know what was I thinking?!) and it was a beautiful view from the 4th floor of Triton as we waited for the elevator.
Sun Rise
Then not only did we notice the sunrise but we saw all these hot air balloons.
I lived in Florida half my life and I never witnessed this, was so cool
There were between 6-10 balloons out that morning and it was really amazing to see.
“Flynn” checking out balloons on Epcot bus stop
We were the only ones on the bus so we chatted with our driver about the balloons and her family on the way to Epcot
Epcot before opening
20th anniversary flower and garden topiary
“Flynn & Rapunzel”
We decided since we were having breakfast with the princesses we would do our Flynn and Rapunzel outfits today, plus our passport for the world showcase had Flynn and Rapunzel traveling the countries, so we looked the part 🙂
It is really cool to book a breakfast before the park opens because everything is empty and the photos are great
Our first Easter egg was none other than…FIGMENT!!! We will get more into the Easter eggs tomorrow
Maelstrom sitting quietly in the corner
Akerhus is another character dining experience, this one is princesses and they vary. Like Ohana and 1900 Park Fare, you check in and do a photo (again this one can be purchased or added to your photopass+), this one is with a princess and we got Belle that morning
This is a more European breakfast, the bring you a platter with eggs, bacon and sausage and there is a buffet or pastries, smoked fish, meat, and other more Mediterranean fare (I suppose this is what our buffet will be like in Paris.)
Breakfast
We ate a little and out came the princesses.
Cinderella
Cinderella’s page
Aurora, Briar Rose, or Sleeping Beauty
Ariel’s page (I love the bubbles)
We really liked the Lingonberry muffins (seems to be a common flavor in the Norwegian fare), so I got some more and made us Mickey 🙂
After breakfast we decided to take advantage of our early arrival to Epcot and made our way over to future world, to ride Test Track, Figment, and Soaring
Empty World Showcase
Imagination Pavilion
We went to test track first and now you make your own car and ride comparing the cars with other cars created by people in your part
Concept cars in the queue
Our car being created step by step
Body
Off we go to ride
Really cool Corvette, looks like it is smiling
Test Track was fun, I like the new create a car part. The ride still seems more than 65 miles an hour and it is a lot of fun. After Test Track we headed over to the Lands pavilion and used one of our DVC fast passes to ride soaring
On the way over to the Lands we found Chip & Dale
Kris even drew them an acorn and they tried to eat it right off the page 🙂
Even though it was early in the day, soaring already had a 90 minute stand by so we were quite happy to have our DVC fast pass, we asked to be in the front and were still in the ride within 15 minutes.
Soarin’
We look beautiful in the blue light, buddy!
We like Soarin’ but definitely will not wait more than 30 mins to ride it and to us if you aren’t in the front, the ride is pretty much ruined by feet.
We also like the safety video from Patrick Warburton, however, when it comes to the ride itself I wish they had a Florida and California version. I don’t like that Soarin’ and Muppets only have videos for Disneyland, especially when you are at Disney World.
The video is also getting old and we were soaring with dust particles half the ride, at first we thought it was a little plane or a hang glider, but no, it was dust 🙂
After the ride we saw this little shop and they had these neat little gardens, so we got one for Hubby’s mom since she had been watching little man while we were on vacation
Mickey’s mini gardens
Then we rode Living with the Land, which is one of my favorites
Cassava
I find living with the land very soothing and really neat that Epcot grows some of the food you actually eat in the park. I also like learning while having fun, so living with the land is still high on my list even though there were no Cinderella pumpkins when we rode.
From there we headed to Nemo and Friends to check it out
Mine, Mine, Mine
I didn’t take any pictures during the ride, was busy comparing this one to Disneyland and of course the most obvious difference is you are already under the sea in a clam mobile no big trip under the sea in a submarine.
It is cute but the story seems a little confusing, is this during the movie or after, not too sure. But I do like their use of the aquarium at the end (projecting the animated images into the real aquarium) and Pearl, she is pretty funny.
After the ride we checked out the animals in the sea
Once we were done under the sea we checked out one of the exhibits for the Flower and Garden festival, the butterfly habitat and fairy topiaries
Butterfly house
Rosetta (we used her doll for our Elf on the Shelf doll)
Me with Tink and Periwinkle
Then we made the worst decision of the day!
Yep, I don’t know why, but Kris decided to try it again and talked me into joining him! Boy, it had not gotten any better, yuck!!
Even Kris’ face was worse the second time around, lol!
We washed down the Beverly with something more tolerable and set out to visit Figment before lunch.
Figment in his sweater
Journey into Figment’s imagination
Upside down in Figment’s world
I absolutely love Figment and would love if the whole ride was like the end, just like when he was first introduced and they brought the dream finder back as well, but I am so happy he is still here.
We even made our own Figment before we left:)
After that we wandered through a few topiaries we hadn’t seen on our way to lunch in France at Les Chefs
The Monster’s inc one,again! I know, I can’t help it, I loved it!
As we made our way through the countries to head to lunch, we stopped inside Mexico and rode the three caballeros ride.
Mexico
I love the Mexico Pavilion, I love how dark and cool it always is inside and I love that it is like its own little city, it has the San Angel restaurant, a market, a jewelry shop and the ride plus other stuff like I believe a new Tequila bar.
After we rode, we got our first stamp on our passport and an cute thing for our anniversary in Spanish. This was a lot of fun and seeing as we live in Texas, it was the only one I would be able to read the whole trip.
I do wish the passport stamps were different and had someone other than Duffy, but I guess they had to put him somewhere.
Les Chefs for Lunch
We made our way over to France and checked in a we were seated in the side area, it was very pretty and one thing I love about Epcot is that the staff from each country, usually is from that country, everyone we encountered in France was in fact French. Pretty neat!
Panoramic view from our seat
I was so excited about how much fun we were having this day, that I had almost forgot why I booked this meal to begin with, Remi!!
He was so cute, he had a handler (some one to push his cheese cart) named Armando and he was a trip. The woman next to us asked to see the mouse and he questioned her about whether she was a health inspector. He said he was a rat and asked her if she knew the difference and gave her a hard time that she must be a health inspector since she didn’t know Remi’s name. Was a cute little performance, made me giggle. Remi also moves and squeaks and interacts with Armando.
It was the highlight to our lunch, so glad I booked it
For appetizers I got the Casserole of Burgundian escargots baked in parsley and garlic butter, they were fantastic and the broth they left were great for the bagette
Kris got the Alsace specialty flatbread with crème fraîche, onion and bacon. This was really light and airy and reminded us of a breakfast pizza
Pretty green Mickey balloon out the window
For our main course I got Croque monsieur – Ham and cheese sandwich. The sandwich was good and very cheesy, the salad however was overdressed for my taste.
Kris got Beef short ribs braised in Cabernet with pasta, pearl onions and mushrooms. I liked it but Kris felt it was a little bland
Hubby got Daily assortment of fresh sorbets and a madeleine. I believe they were raspberry, mango and pineapple and there was fresh fruit as well. The mango was kinda too tart for me, but was nice and refreshing.
I got Fresh strawberry and cream cake with raspberry sauce and strawberry sorbet, the cake was nice and light and I enjoyed the strawberry sorbet
All and all was a very nice lunch, if just for the escargot and seeing Remi. I am happy I have finally experienced some of what the world showcase has to offer.
The Eiffel Tower
Kris decided to use our photopass to get us some awesome pictures in France (of course now I know why, 159 days to Paris.)
After our photos we went and got our passport stamped in France
We are half way through Day 7, tomorrow we will tour the countries, try some school bread and dine with the fishes 🙂 See you then
