Magnolia Pancake Haus, Movies and San Antonio Botancial Garden

Hi guys, once we finally got back into the swing of things we spent a little time on our first full weekend back with hubby’s mom and we went out to try the Magnolia Pancake Haus instead of our normal venue, Ihop ๐Ÿ™‚

Magnolia Pancake HausMagnolia haus

Kris ordered the southwest eggs benedict, had pulled pork instead of the Canadian bacon and had bbq sauce on top of the Hollandaise sauce, it was delicious, truly. The pork was a great compliment and the mixed sauces made this dish, yum!! eggsbenedict

On the side he ordered the banana foster pancakes, plain pancakes with aย  banana foster sauce. The sauce was a bit sweet for me, but hubby really enjoyed thembananafosterpancakes

My MIL ordered Magnolia Haus’ famous, Authentic Munchener Apfel Pfannekuchen and a side of bacon

It is a giant puffed apple pancake served with European style whipped cream and powdered sugar, this was really good and super rich, one bit was enough for me.

applepan

I ordered the corn beef has with over easy eggs, was delicious, really enjoyed it. The corn beef was a perfect balance of potato and corn beef and the runny eggs just made it awesome.

cornbeefhash

The corn beef also came with a side of buttermilk pancakes, they were really nice, nothing over the moon special but a nice pancake all the same.plain pancakes

I would definitely go back to the Pancake Haus, even Guy has eaten here, my only complaint was the weird seat covers in their bathrooms, lol!

And just a word of advice, get there early, this place really starts booming after 11am, wow!

After breakfast we realized there was a theater next door, so we went to see the new Evil Dead but before that we posed with the fun movie props, even though we won’t be seeing The Croods in theaters.

Hammin’ it up with the Croodscroods

Eek! This weird sloth is making a move, lol! weirdsloth

So as many of you know Evil Dead is a remake evil_dead_2013_by_myrmorko-d5j4g87

It was a Sam Raimi film and well it was so bad it became funny and also became a cult classic. This one was not funny and not a Sam Raimi film although he and Bruce Campbell did help produce the film.

It was pretty decent, it had been so long since I had seen the original I couldn’t remember what was new and what was old. But as a stand alone I enjoyed it, it was very bloody and had a good cast ( Jane Levy from Suburgatory is the main girl.)

I also liked that they changed big parts of the story ( I will refrain from adding spoilers.) My BIG complaint is previews, I know most people enjoy previews and I used to be one of them, but nowadays they ruin movies and shows alike. They gave away so much of the movie that some of the big parts, we already knew.

This is not the first time either, they ruined Quarantine and even the last episode of Dexter season 6 (I still want to write Showtime and give them a piece of my mind, lol.)

So if you haven’t seen any trailers, remember this is not the original Evil Dead and enjoy a good horror movie, check it out, I am sure you will enjoy it.

After the movie we left Kris’ mom and went to the San Antonio Botanical garden since I had never gone and it was a pretty spring day.

Map for the Botanical Garden

The garden is pretty large took us a few hours to do and even on a day in early April got pretty hot in the afternoon, I would recommend doing the garden in very early spring or very early in the day.

So that was our first full weekend back home, pretty fun-filled. Hope you enjoyed checking it out.

Anniversary Disney Trip Report – Day 2- Ohana Breakfast, Magic Kingdom, Character meet n greets and more Haunted Mansion

Hi Guys, we are finally on day 2 of our vacation. This was supposed to be our first day at The Magic Kingdom but of course, we had a quick sneak peek the night before.

So Day 2, is the Official first day at the Magic Kingdom, starting with breakfast at Ohana, (I know we were just there, lol) there will be characters, rides, and plenty of photos ๐Ÿ™‚

Here is the view from our room of the rest of the hotel that morning

232323232%7Ffp543;2)nu=965;);59)25 )WSNRCG=363;;964(934;nu0mrj 232323232%7Ffp54357)nu=965;);59)25 )WSNRCG=363;;8; 8734;nu0mrj

We hopped on the bus to the Magic Kingdom and from there took the Monorail to the Polynesian Hotel for breakfast.

Polynesian Resort Downstairs from above232323232%7Ffp5439;)nu=965;);59)25 )WSNRCG=363;;964(;34;nu0mrj Ohana in the morning, is a character dining experience, this was the first of these that we enjoyed and it was really fun. This particular character meet and greet, involved Lilo and Stitch, (since we are supposed to be in Hawaii) Mickey, (complete with lei and Hawaiian garb) and his trusty pal, Pluto.

When you arrive the give you leis and send you to a photographer to get your picture taken, you can buy the pack later for $32 (for 1 8×10 and 4 4×6)or if you signed up for photopass plus (more about photopass plus here) like we did you get the pictures free and the great part is they also add them to your pass if you want more copies later.ย  We did four character dining events during this trip, so our Photopass plus practically paid for itself in just those photo packages. Plus, the pictures in the dining packages also come in really cute folders pertaining to the dining location and sometimes include recipes and other info about the restaurant.

As soon as we got seated, we were surprised by Stitch
232323232%7Ffp54358)nu=965;);59)25 )WSNRCG=363;;9653234;nu0mrj

He seemed to enjoy my home made autograph book and signed right away, then he took his time and posed with each of us ๐Ÿ™‚

Then came Lilo232323232%7Ffp734 9)nu=965;);59)25 )WSNRCG=363;;9653434;nu0mrj

Look I think Stitch has infected Kris, see the ears!?

We had some really delicious eggs, I don’t know what they did to them but they were so good. There was also pastries, potatoes, sausage, bacon, fruit with some raspberry yogurt dip, and passion fruit orange juice. 232323232%7Ffp54348)nu=965;);59)25 )WSNRCG=363;;8; 9734;nu0mrj

Stitch came back and we were able to get a shot together, he is so cute! His badness level seemed to be pretty low this morning. 232323232%7Ffp54388)nu=965;);59)25 )WSNRCG=363;;8; 334;nu0mrj 232323232%7Ffp54363)nu=965;);59)25 )WSNRCG=363;;9654234;nu0mrj

Finally Pluto came to see us, he had been busy all morning, crawling around with the little ones, it was too cute too watch ๐Ÿ™‚ 232323232%7Ffp543(9)nu=965;);59)25 )WSNRCG=363;;9654334;nu0mrj

Breakfast at Ohana was fun, the food was great and if you love to meet characters, this is a great way to do it without the lines and without using up ride time. They come to you and you get a decent amount of time with them. I would recommend doing a breakfast with the kids before the park, it is alot of fun and will get the kids ready for all the excitement of the parks.ย  Most or all of them are buffets as well, so it is a good value whether you are on the dining plan on not.

Now off to the Magic Kingdom

I am so happy they brought the original back!

With the Tiki room melody dancing in my head, we decided to board a ship and set sail to the Caribbean at the Pirates of the Caribbean ride

The line was amazingly short so I was unable to get pictures of the line decor, which I love so much, including the skeletons playing chess.

We were a little confused when we realized that Black beard had taken over for Davy Jones, especially since we were told that was one of the differences from Disneyland’s attraction.ย  However,ย  I did love the addition of the mermaid skeleton and the singing sirens in the water.

After we saw Captain Jack Sparrow inside the ride, we encountered him outside, doing a pirate Tutorial232323232%7Ffp54435)nu=363;);;2)589)272(;;267 25 ot1lsi

ย Splash Mountain was under refurbishment, which is fine, seeing as I am not a big fan of the story or getting wet on rides. So we headed for Thunder Mountain grabbed a fast pass for later and then hopped in line to find out the Train was not running ๐Ÿ˜ฆ However, they told us if the ride wasn’t working when our fast pass was up (which it wasn’t) that we could come back and they would honor it at anytime that day.

A very quiet, Splash Mountain

We were trying to decide where to go in the little area behind Splash Mountain when we noticed Jessie and Woody were in this area for a meet n greet, excitedly we hopped into line.

Our autograph page had Buzz and Woody on it and no Jessie, since I was unaware we could meet her but she was so sweet about it. She pointed to Buzz and then put her heart on her chest and mimicked it beating, then she giggled. I forgot about her crush on Buzz.

After the meet n greet, we decided to go visit my favorite place, so I could visit the graveyard in the day light to pay our respects and maybe get to enjoy more of the interactive queue without the lines

My new favorite spot the lake between Frontier land and Liberty Square because you can get The Haunted Mansion and Rapunzel’s Tower in one shot! I love it!

Like I said before we always get Gus and Ezra is my favorite, so that was exciting. The new ghosts work on something like the kinect software and interact more with the guests. I believe Ezra took our spirits and switched them with the other, where as the day before Gus took our heads and traded them. Really neat! 232323232%7Ffp543;6)nu=965;);59)25 )WSNRCG=363;;9945934;nu0mrj
