Rapunzel's Crafts

Rapunzel's is flowing with ideas

Oh my gosh! I am SO excited, I am Paris is 3 days. Did you hear me? Well I guess you didn’t seeing as I am writing, so let me rephrase that. Did you see that?! 3 days away!!! Also I am excited since it is now officially my favorite season…. FALL!!

So on our excursion this weekend to finish gathering our travel supplies for France; we felt the cool of Fall on the air and also found Halloween stuff! But what is even better than Halloween Stuff is Disney Halloween Stuff and we found some!

First stop, Target!!!

Target never seems to disappoint when it comes to Halloween. I always find the best stuff there. I mean, check these out! Awesome foam Medusa wigs, don’t we look chic?!

They also had some must have animated creatures that I would LOVE to add to my already extensive collection of Halloween goodies. An owl who hoots and his head rotates, a red eyed raven in a cage who caws and his eyes flash, plus this adorable bat candy dish who talks, flaps and also has flashing eyes.

There is also a new line of paper goods, including these plates and napkins which I bought for my Halloween theme. There are also these super cute goody bags that resemble monsters in cages.

There is no shortage of treats to adorn these lovely plates and gift bags either. They had royal sugar pumpkins wearing moustaches, pumpkin bars, pumpkin cheesecake cakes, candy corn Oreos, and a variety of gummies to make my hubby drool. The gummies range from cute to cleverly grotesque all in one end cap. You could choose anything from gummy pumpkins to ground zombie and gummy tongues. Oh how I LOVE Halloween!!

Now onto the Disney stuff, Target had monster plushies of Mike and Sulley from “Monsters University” (Mike even has his retainer on.) As well as Muppet plushies of Kermit and Fozie all dressed up to scare. And speaking of dressing up, they had a variety of ways to Disney-ify your pumpkin as well. The line up included princesses, Avengers, Star Wars and Mickey and Minnie kits. So whichever branch of Disney you chose, your pumpkin will be covered.

Now onto CVS!

CVS has a small aisle of Halloween; however there were still some note worthy Disney items to be found.
There were figurines of Mickey as pirate (my favorite), Pluto as a clown, and Minnie as a witch. Also there were mini snow globes and pumpkin picks to dress your pumpkin up like that silly old bear, Pooh.

While we are on the subject of Disney Halloween, the Disney blog had some amazing prints that will be shown in the month of October.

Jasmine Becket-Griffith’s “Bride” will be shown on October 19th at WonderGround Gallery in the Downtown Disney District as part of the current exhibit, titled Pop Fusion from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m

Also Haunted Memories (Eddie Allen) “Marsh” can be seen October 5 – October 27

All this Halloween stuff just makes me giddy and I am bouncing off the walls waiting for Paris already.

I just can’t wait for all these exciting things. Next time you see me, I will be back from Paris with an incredible Disneyland Paris trip report. I can’t wait!
So as Mickey would say in French, à bientôt réel! (see ya real soon!!!)

Haunted Mansion – The Clock Strikes 13

Disney Design Group created 2013 Posters for a 13 Poster calendar this year and one of these posters has me, the avid Haunted Mansion fan swooning!

It is the infamous grandfather clock which just so happens to strike 13!

The Posters are also incredible in the fact that there are TWO!

Yep, one for Disneyland and one for Disneyworld, complete with each of the Haunted Mansion represented in the left hand corners.

These are ABSOLUTELY amazing and I think they would be a wonderfully sinister addition to any Haunted Mansion collection.

In addition to the posters these pieces have also stemmed pins and vinylmations which will come out in September along with the posters.

The 2013 Calendar with the 13 images for DisneyWorld is available at the DisneyStore

Disney Anniversary Trip – Day 5, Hotel Lobby, Downtown Disney and T-Rex with my Grandmother :)

We are onto day 5, we have made it more than half way through the trip report give or take and so much has already happened since we have been home, that I can’t wait to share with you guys.

But first we have to finish this glorious trip, day 5 we got up and noticed it had rained over night. We were really happy it waited because we saw it had a 60% chance of rain that day and we didn’t want it to ruin our water park fun ( even though hubby likes to swim in the rain.) The rain also brought it some cooler air, so I was really happy the day at the water park went off without a hitch 🙂

Remember in my day 1 post I had said there were shorter ways to the lobby and bus if you chose different paths, well here is our  example, from the Triton rooms if you head towards the parking lot and follow this sidewalk it takes you all the way to the buses and the lobby, much shorter but less scenic and there are cars, so watch where you walk. This walk will shave about 3 to 5 minutes off your walk verses walking through the Little Mermaid and the Lion King areas due to the narrow walkways and them being more crowded.

We had decided we were going to shoot for Animal Kingdom that morning and try to ride a few rides before heading to the  Downtown Disney Marketplace, but the Animal Kingdom bus wasn’t there and we didn’t want to be late for lunch with my amazing  grandmother, so we went in the lobby, to the  ink&paint shop and the arcade to do some pin trading before we headed over to meet my grandma for lunch.

As you just saw me mention, we had been doing pin trading, this trip.

What is pin trading you might ask?

Well it is simple really and a ton of fun!

Step 1: Buy some official Disney pins

Step 2: Find a Cast member

Step 3: Ask them nicely to see their pins

Step 4: They will show you

Step 5:  If you like any you see, you can ask you trade up to two pins with them

You can trade up to two pins per day with each and every Cast Member with a pin collection, so this leads to many fun trading opportunities on your trip.

Pin trading can also be done cheaply if you plan ahead (to learn more, check out this post I wrote about pin trading here.) We purchased a lot of 25 pins on Ebay for $15, which is a great deal compared to buying the parks (one pin starts at 6.95 on property.) You can also save on lanyards to wear your pins on the trip on Ebay or even make your own (we already had some at home.)

We hadn’t quite prepared as well as I thought though because we got hooked. 🙂 Which is easy. I LOVE Figment (the little purple dragon from Journey to Imagination at Epcot, for those who don’t know) and we found all these hidden Mickey Figment pins every time we turned around. Hidden Mickey pins are special because these are the ones they give to cast members only and they cannot be purchased, only traded for.  We both started with about 12 pins to trade and we ended up having to buy a whole bunch on site to continue our fun, it was totally worth it though.

If this happens to you, here is a tip, if you buy a starter pack, you can sometimes find packs that have 7 pins for $29 dollars, which makes each pin less than $5 this is the best value we found on site. Or if you are really just looking to trade two at that moment, they do have 2 pack (blind packs) that I believe were around $11.

The pin trading is a really great way to interact with Cast Members like you never have before. You will learn their interests, stories about what rides they have worked,  or even rumors about upcoming park designs.

At first we traded for things we thought looked neat and the more pins we saw the more an idea formed of what we wanted to collect. Once you figure out what you want to collect it makes the hunt easier.

On top of the that you can also ask the Pin Trader shop at Downtown Disney to see their pin book, so you can get an idea as to which pins in your set you are missing.

Also a fun fact we didn’t know going in, each Hotel has a pin board or book and then a large pin board that comes out once a day (most came out at 5, but it is better to ask what time the board is shown at each hotel) and some of the stores will have a pin board too.

Once you are hooked, you can’t help to want to talk to every Cast Member you see and can spot ones you need from a mile away!

It is a great experience and one that hubby and I bonded more so over.  We started a collection of Figments, Orange Bird and added more to are already large Haunted Mansion pin board.

Here is what are lanyards looked like in the beginning of the trip after a few trades

As you can see the collection grew so much that Figment over took both lanyards and the Orange Birds didn’t even fit (we managed a full collection of them.)

This was really one of the highlights of our trip, hubby really loved it, he said it was like one big scavenger hunt. If you haven’t tried it, I suggest you try it, but be warned you may get hooked, be prepared 🙂

In the ink&paint shop we got really lucky, one of the Cast Members there was into Figment too and she had some we needed and filled us in on some of the ones to look for. Thanks! After we checked out the whole area for new pins, we got on the bus to Downtown Disney

Once we made it downtown, we got off in the Marketplace. There are two parts to the Downtown Disney area, (soon to be called Disney Springs) there is Westside and Marketplace. Once we got off the bus, we headed to Art of Disney, one of my favorite stores in the Marketplace. It is filled with art (you may even get to see a Cast Member creating sketches for purchase in the shop) and is connected to a create a tee shirt shop and a paper goods store (good place to get scrapbook stuff or a notebook to journal your trip.)

Here are some of the amazing pieces we saw in the Art of Disney

We had heard about 30th Anniversary blind packs for Figment and we found them here after checking out the pin trading book, I was talking about before. We bought two of them and with a purchase of $25 or more, you can buy a blind pack pin for $2.95, we did. The Cast member that was helping us knew we were looking for Figment and helped us try to find the Figment completer pin. Our first try was a bust so he let us buy another one (without the whole spending $25 again) and we got him! Another wonderful cast member, thank you 🙂

This is what the blind packs look like

And here is the awesome pin that helped us complete one of our Figment sets, love it! figcom

Now it is finally time for you guys to meet my grandmother, my Nana, Fay!

232323232%7Ffp543(3)nu=965;);59)25 )WSNRCG=363;;9;36334;nu0mrj

Fay lives in Florida, so we couldn’t come to Disney and not see her. She is one our favorite people and we were so happy to spend an afternoon with her.

We went to T-Rex which is a Landry owned restaurant like The Rain Forest Cafe, which is also at Downtown Disney and I am sure you guessed by the name, dinosaur themed 🙂

We were having such a nice time we forgot to take pictures, but the meal itself was nothing to write home about.  I had a guacamole burger and Kris had a pulled pork sandwich, appetizers were a quesadilla and a flatbread, and we had doughnut holes with dipping sauces for dessert.

Verdict on T-Rex is the environment was fun, noisy but fun and  I think once is enough, the food isn’t special and the prices are kinda high, without the dining plan this meal was $85+ and only Kris and I got food.

That is where  I will leave you guys for today, tomorrow we will continue our afternoon with Fay, back to the hotel and Disney Quest 🙂

Disney Anniversary Trip- Day 2- Magic Kingdom- Story time with Belle,LeFou’s Brew, Dole Whips, and Sorcerer’s of the Magic Kingdom

Good morning and happy Monday to everyone!

I hope everyone had a great weekend, I know we did.

So where were we?232323232%7Ffp54376)nu=965;);59)25 )WSNRCG=363;;966; 34;nu0mrj

Oh yeah, Day 2, Magic Kingdom. From the Haunted Mansion we wandered around Tomorrow land, then grabbed a quick bite to eat at Cosmic Ray’s

Was a decent burger but nothing special, if I had my choice from now on, I will do only sit downs at Disney, the food is definitely far supreme and much more exciting, but a burger will always do in a pinch. We also had a cup of carrot cake which was good but the icing was kinda soft and not the best carrot cake of the trip.

The line was neat, however, the ride is identical to the one in Disneyland once you get in. You go through the story of the little mermaid very quickly, some parts are really cut out, however, on the way out you hear Scuttle say that is the story how he remembers it. So that makes it make more sense, since he wasn’t under the water and missed some stuff.

I am really happy we experienced the new area in the day, was so much we missed the night before and I loved the little details, especially Pascal, nice touch!

Once I was sufficiently certain there was no more little secrets in the area, we set on the quest of getting our first Dole Whip, for years I have heard about the wonders of the Dole whip and we were determined to check it out. So off to Aloha Isle we went and the line was a sign we had made it to our destination. Once we made it to the front of the line we were overwhelmed with what exactly a Dole Whip was, so we asked a cast member for her favorite and got that. It was the citrus swirl (orange and vanilla soft serve) with pineapple juice floater.

232323232%7Ffp54348)nu=965;);59)25 )WSNRCG=363;;9(3 934;nu0mrj

It was delicious but now I am curious about all the other varieties. The ice cream reminded me of an Orange Julius and the pineapple juice made a nice compliment to the sweetness.

When we finished our  snack, we headed to big Thunder where they let us use our fast pass since the ride was finally working! we moved on to check out the new Sorcerer’s of The Magic Kingdom game.

We found the area in Liberty Square (behind the Christmas shoppe and next to Tiana’s garden) to enlist in Merlin’s Army and become apprentice sorcerers, sorcerer Mickey hat optional (like Dumbledore’s Army but with cards instead of wands, lol!)

232323232%7Ffp54393)nu=965;);59)25 )WSNRCG=363;(2 55634;nu0mrj

The goal is to help the wizard Merlin fight the forces of evil in this interactive role-playing game.

Hades, god of the Underworld, is looking to make the Magic Kingdom  his new home. However in order to do so, he must reassemble the Crystal of the Magic Kingdom, whose 4 shards are  hidden throughout the park. Also, the other Disney villains are helping him retrieve the pieces, and it’s up to us to stop them!

Once we enlisted (gave the cast member our keys to the kingdom to get us into the system and ensure we only got one pack of cards) we were given a key, a really cool map and a set of cards each. Then we were taken to a portal to be shown how to cast spells and open portals throughout the park.

Once we had been trained off we went to the first place on our map which was on Main Street USA, we were fighting Cruella Deville this round

So we headed to Main Street and after searching the area found our marker, placed our key against the key hole and the portal opened

Pongo filling us in on Cruella’s plot to steal the puppies and take the crystal

They are in really clever spots, like a window display in the Emporium232323232%7Ffp543 3)nu=965;);59)25 )WSNRCG=363;;9(3; 34;nu0mrjWe continued going from portal to portal throughout Main Street Usa, including in a shop and the train station,  switching off from our spells and eventually we defeated Cruella. Our next mission was in Fantasyland if we chose to accept it.

We never did find the time on the trip to continue to Fantasyland and find out who our next Villain would be but we did enjoy the adventure. We also loved the cards, which we found out you could come back every day of your trip and get a new pack, which we did on most days, makes for a fun souvenir.

There are two places in the Magic Kingdom to join the fight, behind the Christmas shoppe like we did and the Fire station in Main Street USA, hope you check it out when you are at the park.

Anniversary Disney Trip Report – Day 2- Ohana Breakfast, Magic Kingdom, Character meet n greets and more Haunted Mansion

Hi Guys, we are finally on day 2 of our vacation. This was supposed to be our first day at The Magic Kingdom but of course, we had a quick sneak peek the night before.

So Day 2, is the Official first day at the Magic Kingdom, starting with breakfast at Ohana, (I know we were just there, lol) there will be characters, rides, and plenty of photos 🙂

Here is the view from our room of the rest of the hotel that morning

232323232%7Ffp543;2)nu=965;);59)25 )WSNRCG=363;;964(934;nu0mrj 232323232%7Ffp54357)nu=965;);59)25 )WSNRCG=363;;8; 8734;nu0mrj

We hopped on the bus to the Magic Kingdom and from there took the Monorail to the Polynesian Hotel for breakfast.

Polynesian Resort Downstairs from above232323232%7Ffp5439;)nu=965;);59)25 )WSNRCG=363;;964(;34;nu0mrj Ohana in the morning, is a character dining experience, this was the first of these that we enjoyed and it was really fun. This particular character meet and greet, involved Lilo and Stitch, (since we are supposed to be in Hawaii) Mickey, (complete with lei and Hawaiian garb) and his trusty pal, Pluto.

When you arrive the give you leis and send you to a photographer to get your picture taken, you can buy the pack later for $32 (for 1 8×10 and 4 4×6)or if you signed up for photopass plus (more about photopass plus here) like we did you get the pictures free and the great part is they also add them to your pass if you want more copies later.  We did four character dining events during this trip, so our Photopass plus practically paid for itself in just those photo packages. Plus, the pictures in the dining packages also come in really cute folders pertaining to the dining location and sometimes include recipes and other info about the restaurant.

As soon as we got seated, we were surprised by Stitch
232323232%7Ffp54358)nu=965;);59)25 )WSNRCG=363;;9653234;nu0mrj

He seemed to enjoy my home made autograph book and signed right away, then he took his time and posed with each of us 🙂

Breakfast232323232%7Ffp73487)nu=965;);59)25 )WSNRCG=363;;9653634;nu0mrj

We had some really delicious eggs, I don’t know what they did to them but they were so good. There was also pastries, potatoes, sausage, bacon, fruit with some raspberry yogurt dip, and passion fruit orange juice. 232323232%7Ffp54348)nu=965;);59)25 )WSNRCG=363;;8; 9734;nu0mrj

Lilo sure thought something was funny!232323232%7Ffp73475)nu=965;);59)25 )WSNRCG=363;;8; 9;34;nu0mrj

Stitch came back and we were able to get a shot together, he is so cute! His badness level seemed to be pretty low this morning. 232323232%7Ffp54388)nu=965;);59)25 )WSNRCG=363;;8; 334;nu0mrj 232323232%7Ffp54363)nu=965;);59)25 )WSNRCG=363;;9654234;nu0mrj

Finally Pluto came to see us, he had been busy all morning, crawling around with the little ones, it was too cute too watch 🙂 232323232%7Ffp543(9)nu=965;);59)25 )WSNRCG=363;;9654334;nu0mrj

Breakfast at Ohana was fun, the food was great and if you love to meet characters, this is a great way to do it without the lines and without using up ride time. They come to you and you get a decent amount of time with them. I would recommend doing a breakfast with the kids before the park, it is alot of fun and will get the kids ready for all the excitement of the parks.  Most or all of them are buffets as well, so it is a good value whether you are on the dining plan on not.

Now off to the Magic Kingdom

Once inside they “wake” up Jose and the show begins. As usual some people walked out of the show, I guess it is not for everyone. But me on the other hand, I was doing tiki chants and singing the tiki room song all day 🙂

I am so happy they brought the original back!

With the Tiki room melody dancing in my head, we decided to board a ship and set sail to the Caribbean at the Pirates of the Caribbean ride

The line was amazingly short so I was unable to get pictures of the line decor, which I love so much, including the skeletons playing chess.

We were a little confused when we realized that Black beard had taken over for Davy Jones, especially since we were told that was one of the differences from Disneyland’s attraction.  However,  I did love the addition of the mermaid skeleton and the singing sirens in the water.

After we saw Captain Jack Sparrow inside the ride, we encountered him outside, doing a pirate Tutorial232323232%7Ffp54435)nu=363;);;2)589)272(;;267 25 ot1lsi

So we headed for Thunder Mountain grabbed a fast pass for later and then hopped in line to find out the Train was not running 😦 However, they told us if the ride wasn’t working when our fast pass was up (which it wasn’t) that we could come back and they would honor it at anytime that day.

A very quiet, Splash Mountain

We were trying to decide where to go in the little area behind Splash Mountain when we noticed Jessie and Woody were in this area for a meet n greet, excitedly we hopped into line.

Our autograph page had Buzz and Woody on it and no Jessie, since I was unaware we could meet her but she was so sweet about it. She pointed to Buzz and then put her heart on her chest and mimicked it beating, then she giggled. I forgot about her crush on Buzz.

After the meet n greet, we decided to go visit my favorite place, so I could visit the graveyard in the day light to pay our respects and maybe get to enjoy more of the interactive queue without the lines

My new favorite spot the lake between Frontier land and Liberty Square because you can get The Haunted Mansion and Rapunzel’s Tower in one shot! I love it!

Disney Anniversary Trip- Day 1- Ohana and Magic Kingdom

Hi guys, so this morning takes us to dinner. Well not dinner this morning but dinner on our first day of our trip at Ohana (means family) at the Polynesian Resort near the Magic Kingdom.

This is one of my favorite places, maybe because my family has always been fond of it, I am not sure. But I do love the laid back feel and the food is always great.

As you read last post to get to the Polynesian Resort we took the monorail from Epcot, this is a great option for this Epcot and Magic Kingdom because they are the only ones that you can utilize the monorail and just sit back and enjoy.

From the Epcot monorail you go to the ticketing area and can hop aboard another monorail straight to the Polynesian or you can walk which is what we did.

The really pretty walk from Ticketing to the Polynesian

Remember I said that the buses go from hotel to park and park to hotel, well we could have taken the bus in this case since we were at Epcot and going to a hotel. However, the monorail is faster and only available between the Magic Kingdom and Epcot, so we opted for it.

We will be showing many of the various ways around the parks throughout this trip. So hopefully you will get a good idea of how to get around. Now off to dinner.

Our reservation was at 6 and I think we got there right at 6, they gave us a pager and we walked around looking at Kona Cafe and checking out some fun sushi on display at Kona Island.

Now I know you have all been waiting for the real highlights, the food!

Ohana is a family style buffet, since Ohana does mean family, everyone calls you cousin and all the food you want is brought out on platters, so no having to get up for more 🙂

First up

Mixed Greens Salad with a Honey-Lime Dressing

232323232%7Ffp5439;)nu=965;);59)25 )WSNRCG=363;;8(7(;34;nu0mrj

It was pretty good, had bits of fruit and the dressing was nice

Pork Dumplings with Sweet-n-Sour Sauce & Honey-Coriander Chicken Wings

232323232%7Ffp7349;)nu=965;);59)25 )WSNRCG=363;;8(83234;nu0mrj

The dumplings had a nice flavor but were kinda too crunchy for me, but hubby liked the crunch. The wings however are one of my favorites and I do not like wings really. In fact I have replicated this sauce at home several times for drumsticks and chicken breasts, yum!

Here is the recipe for the honey coriander sauce

1/2 cup honey

1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1/2 tablespoon chili powder

1/2 tablespoon fresh lime juice

1/2 tablespoon ground coriander

1/4 teaspoon ground ginger

Place all ingredients in a sauce pan.

Heat until hot.

Remove from heat and let cool. Serve with chicken wings.

Noodles, tossed in a Teriyaki Sauce with Fresh Vegetables Stir-fried Vegetables

232323232%7Ffp73496)nu=965;);59)25 )WSNRCG=363;;8( (834;nu0mrj

We truly LOVED these noodles, they were well seasoned and slightly sticky, yum! Will be looking for this recipe soon. Plus the veggies were nicely cooked and still had a crunch to them.

Grilled Chicken Skewer

232323232%7Ffp54385)nu=965;);59)25 )WSNRCG=363;;8(83334;nu0mrj

These were nice, flavorful and tender

232323232%7Ffp73485)nu=965;);59)25 )WSNRCG=363;;8( ( 34;nu0mrj
The steak and the shrimp were really good, in fact I normally steer away from peel and eat cause they are so messy, but these were delish.
The Pork loin was not my cup of tea though, the sweet glaze seemed more like a separate component then a compliment to the pork.
Kris digging in to his steak, seems shocked by all this food!
232323232%7Ffp54372)nu=965;);59)25 )WSNRCG=363;;8(83434;nu0mrj
Now on to my favorite part of Ohana, Dessert

‘Ohana Bread Pudding à la mode with Bananas Caramel Sauce
232323232%7Ffp734 ;)nu=965;);59)25 )WSNRCG=363;;8(;3334;nu0mrj

I mean come on, look at this, doesn’t just make your mouth water?! Yum!
232323232%7Ffp54397)nu=965;);59)25 )WSNRCG=363;;8(83534;nu0mrj
This is something that I have made at home and man, I thought mine was good until I tried this one and remembered just how much I love it.
Here is the recipe if you want to try it at home
5 eggs
3 cups whole milk
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1 1/2 cup sugar
8 cups french bread
1. In bowl mix eggs, milk, salt, sugar, and nutmeg. Set aside.
2. Cut bread in medium (usually 2-inch) pieces and place on cookie sheet pan. Put in 350 degree oven.
3. Bake bread until lightly toasted: about 15 minutes. Remove bread and place in egg and milk mixture.
4. Place mixture in a greased 10-inch cake pan, and bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour.
5. Let stand 5 minutes; serve hot with ice cream.BANANAS FOSTER SAUCE
4 oz sugar
4 oz brown sugar
4 oz corn syrup
4 oz unsalted butter
1 cup heavy cream
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup spiced rum
1 cup banana slices1. Combine sugar, brown sugar, corn syrup, butter, and half of heavy cream in a large pan. Bring to a boil and slowly add remaining heavy cream keeping mixture at a steady boil.2. Add spiced rum and flambe.

3. Candy will brown slightly; cook 3 minutes until candy forms into a firm ball in cold water. Remove from heat and add vanilla. Add sliced bananas. Serve warm.

I hope you love it as much as we do 🙂

The bread pudding was just the right temp. and texture and the ice cream was great, but that sauce, oh my (as voiced by George Takei!) That sauce seemed to be magic, hubby kept pouring it on and it seemed like that little carafe would never empty. It was the clown car of the condiment world.
I have to say Ohana never disappoints which is great cause we had reservations to do it again for breakfast to try out the character dining with Lilo and Stitch!
So who is up for the Magic Kingdom?!
With full bellies (probably more full than should be allowed since we had just had a full meal in Italy only hours before dinner) we waddled our way back on the monorail to head to the Magic Kingdom.
We got there just after sunset with the hopes of enjoying the Haunted Mansion and maybe the fireworks. As with everything on this trip, we made every moment count.
Let the memories begin!

232323232%7Ffp543;4)nu=965;);59)25 )WSNRCG=363;;8(;4534;nu0mrj
The new ghosts are

Bertie – Avid hunter and expert shot, in the end that’s what he got.

Aunt Florence – Never did a dishonorable deed. Yet found face down in canary seed.

Uncle Jacob – Greed was the poison he had swallowed. He went first, the others followed. His killer’s face he surely knew, now try to discover who killed who.

The Twins, Wellington & Forsythia – Departed life while in their beds, with identical bumps on identical heads.

Cousin Maude – Our sleeping beauty, who never awoke the night her dreams went up in smoke.

I was unable to get great pictures of them the first night, but I promise there are more later in our trip.

Supposedly this busts will whisper to guests about who killed them and let us help solve the mystery. Should be pretty neat. I liked their presence but as an avid Haunted Mansion fan, I would have preferred more new story lines with our more familiar ghosts.

That being said, I was THRILLED by the addition of a Tombstone for the Organist!

This piece is a work of art and when you touch the keys the organ plays, grim grinning, ghosts!!

232323232%7Ffp54389)nu=965;);59)25 )WSNRCG=363;;68 7 34;nu0mrj232323232%7Ffp543 3)nu=965;);59)25 )WSNRCG=363;(2589734;nu0mrj
Another very exciting modification is Master Gracey’s grave has been relocated from the yard to inside the queue for a much closer look for those who wish to pay their respects.232323232%7Ffp7347 )nu=965;);59)25 )WSNRCG=363;;8(;5434;nu0mrj
Another fun addition is the Captain, which is a nod to the original concept of the house being owned by a sea captain232323232%7Ffp5439 )nu=965;);59)25 )WSNRCG=363;;68 8234;nu0mrj
Detail on the Captain’s grave232323232%7Ffp54372)nu=965;);59)25 )WSNRCG=363;(2589834;nu0mrj
Another fun thing about the Captain’s grave is every few minutes you hear a sneeze and water and bubbles shoot out the top of the tomb, frightening and dampening unsuspecting guests.
There is also  Prudence Pock, the “poetess” of the Haunted Mansion, she is working on her poetry. A glowing animated book resides inside, adorned with some decaying flowers.
232323232%7Ffp73478)nu=965;);59)25 )WSNRCG=363;(348(734;nu0mrj
She can be overheard working on her poems and asks guests for rhyming suggestions and other questions if you speak to her.
Along with the new additions all the old tombs can be seen, some have also been moved closer for better viewing
232323232%7Ffp734 3)nu=965;);59)25 )WSNRCG=363;(348(634;nu0mrj Good Old Fred
232323232%7Ffp54383)nu=965;);59)25 )WSNRCG=363;(2589934;nu0mrj
There are also more interactive spaces which I just couldn’t get great shots of with the crowds, they are…

Two tombstones in the crypt are for the musicians of the Haunted Mansion. They have interactive wall plaques featuring numerous instruments that act as buttons. When guests press these instruments, the melody of “Grim Grinning Ghosts” can be heard playing from the crypt in that instrument’s sound. Guests pressing multiple instruments will hear all of them harmonize together.

Also a large new crypt area which represents the library scene. The two sides of this library crypt feature stone books that push in and out by themselves, much like in the actual library scene inside the Haunted Mansion.

The books on either side of the library crypt feature familiar Haunted Mansion images which include a dynamite barrel and a bust with an axe in its head. Supposedly these make up a “cryptogram” to be solved. Can’t wait to go back and figure that out.

As you finish going through the new area, you make your way towards the front doors and encounter the best tomb of all

By far my favorite tomb, she is animatronic and can be seen on occasion looking around with her beautiful green eyes.
Once inside I took one picture of my favorite parasol girl and decided to absorb the ride and atmosphere with hubby in our doom buggy

The wonderful parasol girl before her chilling transformation
The ride was better than I imagined, seeing as the last time I was there was over 5 years ago.
New art has been placed in the house, including the Hatchet man, whom some claim is the ghost host.
My Favorite addition to the attraction is the new hitch hiking ghost scene!
After the ghost host warns you of their intent to follow you home, you see the gruesome trio standing just outside your doom buggy, then, you travel into the room of mirrors while Phineas, Ezra or Gus boarded your buggie and now they are much more active, we had our heads  swapped and are spirits pulled out playfully by Ezra and Gus throughout our trip, never got Phineas. Was really funny and such an improvement to the previous interaction where Gus for some reason was always sitting in my lap!
Was so exciting, but what was just around the corner was just as magical and maybe a little more magical to us because it was a Tangled area!

countdownlongIt nearly took up our entire stairwell and now, we have one little ring between us and the promise land!!

This is our first trip to Disney World together, our first wedding anniversary and our first Disney Vacation as husband and wife. Our first Disney trip was to Disneyland and that was where hubby proposed. So I get misty thinking back to that and now we are married and get to add some more misty memories to Disney, this time it is off to Disney World in Florida. Time for a fun and food filled week!

So I hope you guys can make it without me for a week, I will have months of Disney to share with you when we get home.

We have our ears all packed and we are off!

New Haunted Mansion Themed Items for Disney Parks

Hi guys, I have some pretty exciting news, new Haunted Mansion Merch!!

Yep and just in time for our trip (at least some of it.) There are 9 pieces which I suppose is more manageable then making 999, oh but wouldn’t that be great 🙂

The Hourglass

It measures 7 1/2 inches tall and has the gargoyles from the stretching portrait room and the demon wall paper face on the top. Another great nod to the Mansion is the purple sand. It keeps time for about 30 mins.

The Candelabra

This Candelabra, which I think is  my favorite item of the set, also stars the stretching portrait room gargoyle. The base is also inspired by the paneling in that room.

Haunted Mansion Plaque Picture Frame

This 5×7 frame is a nod to the Haunted Mansion Plaque. It was said that the designers took several pictures of the attraction to ensure the authentic look of the items. I think we may have to get this one for our of our vacation pictures 🙂

The Music Box

This beautiful box mirrors Madame Leota’s epitaph from outside the Disney World Haunted Mansion and it plays “Grim Grinning Ghosts”, of course 🙂 This box is simply stunning and I would love it in our collection.

Coaster Set

This coaster set includes four epitaphs from the attraction, including Madame Leota and of course, Master Gracey.

                Bat Stanchion Bottle Stop

This is a beautiful bronzed likeness to the bat stanchions roping off the line inside the Mansion

Rest In Peace Throw Pillow

This pillow has a very simple nod to the Haunted Mansion on the front with with, “rest in peace” and the back of pillow portrays the famous demon wall paper. Which is also mimicked on the throw below.

Haunted Mansion Demon Wall Paper Throw

Soft throw with wallpaper image and black fringe, would love this for the couch!

Room for one more Candy Dish

This dish also used the famous wall paper and has “Room for One More” printed inside. A reference to the 999 ghosts and maybe for pieces of candy too 🙂

Tarot card Merchandise  Hang-tags

Even the hang- tags for the items have that Haunted Mansion vibe, resembling Madame Leota’s Tarot cards on front. On the back is a cute description of the merchandise, which resembles Madame Leota’s seance.
